With the 2021 sailing season pretty much at an end and many boats now layed-up for the winter, please join fellow members and friends at one of our highlight events, the annual Laying-Up Supper which incorporates the GCCC Photo, Original Art & Caption Competition.
We are pleased to say that the event, which will take place on Saturday, 13th November, will this year be back in the clubhouse and will follow the format as outlined below:-
- 18:45 hrs - Bar opens (n.b. payment for drinks is by card ONLY – no cash)
Please add your photos or artwork to the display boards/tables (see below for competition specifics - n.b. Entries close at 19:45 hrs.).
A chance to view all entries and select your favourite in each category. Likewise, to think of a comical caption for any photo in the Humorous Category! Voting will then begin.
- From 19:30 hrs – a ‘One Pot Supper’ will be served, catered by our fantastic in-house crew! (See menu choices below).
- 21:00 hrs – Voting closes
- Approximately 21:30 hrs – Winners to be announced and prizes awarded.
All of this for the exceptional price of £10.00 per person!
Cost includes your choice of:
- Mediterranean Seafood Stew with French Bread
- Chicken & Celery Casserole with Rice
- Vegetable Tagine with Couscous
- and all followed by a dessert.
Booking/registration is via the website ONLY. For couples, just one member need register and give the 'number of meals' as 2 and provide both names. Your menu choice MUST also be provided during the booking process.
Pre-payment of £10.00 per person, which can be £20.00 total for a couple, must be made to the club bank account quoting your name as reference. Bank details here
Please note there can be no cash payments on the night.
Please also bring your own plates/pasta bowls, plus dessert dish and cutlery.
If you want to eat, it is essential that you register in advance and pre-pay by Monday 8th November, so we know how much food to buy.
We regret no bookings after this date likewise no cancellations without incurring the full cost.
We regret that we are unable to accommodate specific dietary requirements and cannot guarantee that any of our food is suitable for those with allergies. However, if you have any concerns, we will be able to provide a list of the main ingredients upon request.
Regarding the specifics of the competition, as is usual the following photographic categories will apply, however this year, due to the number and variety of entries in previous years in the original art category, we have split this into two, so…
Your photos:
- Things Nautical
- Humorous
- Others
Your original art:
- Artwork (painting, drawing or similar)
- Craftwork (an item)
Caption Competition:
- Wittiest caption for a photo in the humorous category
All entries to be anonymous and must not have been entered in previous years. We will supply blu tac for the display boards and organise the numbering.
Prizes will be awarded for first place in each of the above 5 categories and for the wittiest caption for a photo in the humorous category.
So now is the time to sort through your digital albums, memory cards or wherever you keep your photos and print them ready for what will be a fun and enjoyable evening for all!
